VTech Tote 'N Go Laptop for Ages 3 to 6 - Product Review

Children and laptops never seem to go out of style. Since educational laptops are always in demand there are many versions of educational laptops for children that are manufactured. The VTech Tote 'n' go laptop is a neat little laptop for young children age 3-6.

Appearance/design

The VTech Tote 'N Go comes in all-pink or a multi-color. The laptop is compact and weighs about 2.25 pounds. It includes an LCD screen, a movable mouse (for both left and right hand,) a volume button, and convenient storage for the mouse located underneath the laptop. The buttons and font on the keyboard keys are brightly colored and of considerable size. The letter buttons have bright pictures on them that represent a specific letter for example, the a letter has a picture of an apple, and the b letter has a picture of a bee and so on. The design of the laptop is very kid-friendly. The laptop's design does not look serious and intimidating but inviting and fun.

The Review

The VTech Tote 'N Go laptop is one of the best laptops I have yet to come across for children aged 3-6. This laptop gets 5 stars in the area of design, content, and usability. It is a great laptop. The design of the laptop is perfect. This laptop is how a kid's laptop should look. It's compact with vibrant color, user friendly with nice sized buttons and sizable fonts and is easy to use. The mouse is unique in that it can be positioned to the right for right handed children and to the left for left handed children. It does not contain a ball or a laser light like traditional mice; it is instead movable and operates by moving it left, right, up, or down. The VTech Tote 'N Go laptop teaches in four categories; letters, numbers, logic, and games. Each category has 8 lessons for each category, so there is plenty for children to do. Children can easily access each category by pressing one of the four large category buttons located at the bottom of the laptop.

The lessons are age appropriate and concise and if children become stumped they can press the answer key which will help them. The numbers and letters are all arranged in chronological order unlike a traditional laptop in which the letters are out of sequence.

The chronological lettering helps children easily recognize and spot the letters and numbers on the keyboard. The graphics on the LCD screen are decent, and the character's diction (which is a cheery squirrel) is nice and clear. It is not robotic and incomprehensible like the voice of most educational laptops. The laptop is also parent friendly. There is the volume control to decrease or increase sound, a carry handle which makes transporting the laptop from place to place a breeze, and an automatic- shut off feature which will save battery life. The neat mouse storage located on the bottom of the laptop is a mouse saver.

I am pro VTech Tote 'N Go! This is a great educational toy for children. It is perfect. I could not find one flaw with this laptop. The design, content, and usability are of great quality. This will make a great gift for any child who is ready to learn.
