Vtech USB7200 - An Almost Perfect Phone for Yahoo Voice

The Vtech USB7200 Dual Line Internet Phone was supposed to be just what Yahoo Voice users needed to add that special touch to their services. It had dual functionality as a regular landline phone and a VOIP phone. However, there were certain aspects of it that would cause even the most experienced gadget hound to pull their hair out in one stressful fit. Most consumers that purchase electronic gadgets do so because it is supposed to make life simpler and less stressful. I was so discouraged with this device because it had so many possibilities.

Once you begin the installation process for the Vtech USB7200, you will begin to understand where its faults lie. After inserting the installation CD, users will be confronted by a ton of different tasks to complete. Even if you have Yahoo Messenger installed on your computer system, you will still be prompted to download it. Then you will need to update Vtech's software. The next aggravating step is the fact that you will receive conflicting messages telling you that your phone is not connected and then another message stating that it is. Before completing the installation process, you will be so disgusted with it and want to completely end everything.

Despite all the hardship of getting the software installed correctly, the phone itself is a good phone. The call quality was extremely clear and there was no background noise like some VOIP phones. You will be able to travel at least 40 feet without call quality being compromised and degraded. This comes in handy if you need to travel to multiple locations away from the phone's base station. I am not suggesting that you try and travel to the next city or anything, but I was impressed with the range.

Considering the price of the Vtech USB7200, I really would not recommend it to anyone that is not familiar with installing software on a computer. It would put them through too much aggravation and stress. If you can get through the initial setup, then you will see how well the phone works. It does not have a color LCD and some consumers may be turned off because of this. Contact names will be available for you to view on the screen and scrolling through them is easy to navigate. This has definitely not been one of the best VOIP phones that I have come across. It has been evicted from my gadget collection and I hope it never returns.
