Vtech V.Reader - Review: One of the Best Electronic Teaching Aids that Help Children(3-5yrs.) Learn How to Read
My Review of the Vtech Animated E-book System in Which I Am Using to Help My Child to Get a Start on Her Education
From the moment she got it, she loved it. The bright pink color of the case and toy-like design was an instant intrigue. After showing her how to turn it on and use the touch-screen, she ran with it; playing for hours. With all the colorful scenes, voices, sounds and music, she had no clue that she had begun the process of learning to read. Though she has only had it for about a month, I can definitely see a change in her willingness to learn.
As for the V.Reader itself, the soft narrating voice offers a positive affirmation when answers are correct and a supportive and encouraging response when answers are incorrect, thus enhancing learning potential by keeping confidence up. The reading games and stories combined with animation and music keep the learning entertaining.
The curriculum for reading games(age appropriate) include: Reading Comprehension, Onomatopoeia(same sounds), Beginning Sounds/Beginning letters, Syllables, Capital& Lowercase Letters, Foreign Languages, Antonyms, and Rhyming. For story mode, cartridges can be inserted and swapped out just like a video game. Different storybook cartridges(sold separately) have different games. In addition, there are tons of other fun games and activities to be discovered with this user friendly device.
Part review, part testimonial, I want to conclude by saying that this device delivers quality; both educational and entertainment alike. To date, I've discovered nothing negative about this product. I recommend it to any parent that would like to give their child an instrument that will help them succeed. Hopefully, by taking this proactive step towards the development of my child's education, I can feel confident that I made a positive impact on my child's future by giving her the gift of reading.
