With Wade Phillips fired as the head coach for the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett can finally take center stage as the interim head coach. Here is hoping Jason Garrett plenty of good luck and prayers as he will need them to turn the Dallas Cowboys around.
This season may be a wash, but Wade Phillips needed to be gone. For those who are not Dallas Cowboys history buffs, Jason Garrett was the third string quarterback to Troy Aikman back in the Dallas Cowboys' hay days.
I enjoyed watching Jason whenever he was able to step on the field. He had a great arm and a calm demeanor and if he can bring those characteristics to the miserable Dallas Cowboys as the lead man, he will win the loyalty of the legions of Dallas Cowboy fans.
Jason Garrett will be fighting an uphill battle. As the quarterback coach, Jason Garrett's name has been tossed around by the upper echelons of the NFL as an ideal candidate to become a head coach for some team. Well, he has his shot right now, and where better than the Dallas Cowboys where he has spent most of his professional career.
Jason Garrett's father was also a Dallas Cowboy player. To see the Jason Garrett step up to the plate and to take the reins is something this fan has wanted for a very long time, even before the miserable season Wade Phillips has led us thus far.
Jason Garrett, you have a long ways to go to get things turned around, but if there is anyone on the current staff of the Dallas Cowboys who has the heart and the soul of a real Cowboy, it is you.
Good luck, Jason. I look forward to the day when you are no longer the interim head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, but in fact, the head coach of the Cowboys.
