Waialua Chop Suey is where L & M drive-in once called home. The food there reminds me much of Panda Express with out the extra costs. You can order off of their menu, but the best deal is the lunch buffet. The restaurant itself is not that big of a place, but it does seat its share of customers. The nice thing is the fact that it is a little hole in the wall place that is not over run with tourists as you would normally see a lot of North Shore restaurants. It is easy to find a table and there is always plenty of parking out front.
The restaurant is located in a little strip mall right across from the Waialua Post office so if you are having trouble finding it, just ask anyone how to get to the Post Office and you will be there in no time.
As I said, the buffet is the great part of it. Prices are very affordable and you can easily feed two people plus drinks for well under twenty dollars. The food is buffet style and I would definitely recommend trying the vegetable noodles and spare ribs. You can also get drinks such as flavored green tea, soda or water.
There are a bunch of other little stores around the area which will leave you some time to walk around and see what they have to offer and if you are lucky you may even catch a show. Across the street is an old bandstand that offers live entertainment throughout the month, you just have to check out the performance schedule. You could make it a nice day with the family by picking up some good Chinese food, then walking across the street and finding a shady spot on the grass.
If you are in the area and are looking for some good Chinese food, then I would definitely give them a shot. For the price and quality of the food it is a sure winner.
