I have tried all evening...
No one on the other end...
To listen to the greeting that I send...
Tears running down my face.....
My broken heart one could sure trace...
Sadness can hit so hard...
And leave the heart so very scarred...
Alone I sit with such sadness...
Hoping I could fill my evening with gladness...
Longing for the phone to ring.....
But afraid of what it might bring.....
Only one more day I must tell myself....
One last day is all that is left....
At least for this time I am told....
But soon another adventure will unfold....
Tears fill my eyes once more....
I must quit before they are swollen and soar....
How I wonder how thoughtless one could be....
But sit and wonder if the plans were ones that were easy to foresee....
I wait and wait...
Minutes that turn to hours of late...
Thoughts run wild and worries fling....
While waiting for the phone to ring.....
