Wal-Mart Pays $33 Million for Overtime Violations
Wal-Mart Turned Themselves in to the Labor Department for Errors in Bookkeeping
This error has affected thousands of employees within the company, and Wal-Mart is now taking action to correct this error. It was disclosed to management that the employees this will mainly affect are those who went through the training program to become upper management within the store. Those employees who have gone through the training system can go to a site on Wal-Mart's internal system to see if they were not paid correctly for their time. For those managers who were under paid, they will be reimbursed for their time in the training program. The company told employees that the checks will arrive within ninety to one hundred business days.
One Wal-Mart Co-Manager, who has asked that his name be kept private, tells us, "I looked up my name and I have a $500 check coming to me. I hate that I was cut short, but at least the company is making up for it now."
For managers who were over paid during their training time, there will be no actions taken. They will be allowed to keep the extra money that they were paid during that time.
