So is the Walk Vest the next best way to lose weight? I don't think so. I understand the technology behind it. You have more resistance when working out, thus you burn extra calories. Burning more calories is important when trying to lose weight, so technically this should work. I just don't see how wearing a vest with weight on it would be something you are going to want to do. I know when I am exercising I work hard, I know the Walk Vest might add more resistance to my workout, but I don't think it would be comfortable. Lets be honest if something is uncomfortable and difficult to use, you won't use it.
The Walk Vest is expensive. I think $50 dollars is a lot to pay for a glorified shirt with pockets for weights. If you want added resistance you can carry weights for a lot cheaper. You can even add resistance to workouts by using things around the house like water bottles or cans for free. Working out is important, but we don't have to spend money to do it. With all the new exercise products and infomercials out there, they have a lot of people convinced they need this fancy expensive equipment. You can do great workouts for free, you can lose weight with out paying people to help you.
I think the Walk Vest could be a good buy for certain people. I think if you get your main exercise from walking or jogging and you are looking for a way to add intensity to your workout this could help you. But I don't think the Walk Vest is the only option.
I exercise by walking and jogging and I also do cardio dance. There is no way I would be able to wear this vest while doing cardio dance. It would be uncomfortable and awkward. When I go for walks I wear my daughter in a carrier, this adds about 15 pounds to me. This would be the same idea as the walk vest. By carrying my daughter I am adding some resistance to my workout without having to pay a lot of money, and as a added benefit I keep my daughter very happy. I think the Walk Vest is basically a un-needed piece of equipment, I think most people can figure out ways of adding resistance to their workout with out this pricey item.
