Walk Your Way to a Healthy and Strong Body and Heart

How to Walk for Weightloss and Strengthen the Heart

Norah Faith
Here are three ideas for bettering the heart and body.

Plan 1

Walk, walk, walk and walk some more.

Walking has many benefits for the heart, body and skin you will notice improved circulation, a firmer body, smoother more glowing skin and less stretchmarks to name a few. So you should aim to walk thirty minutes a day, even if you start with only five minutes a day adding a couple minutes to build up to thirty minutes. No need to carry weights or strap them to your ankles. Be sure to do some stretching before and after your walk.

Plan 2

Pick up the pace.

While walking leisurely has it's benefits you will see them faster if you walk faster. Just increase the speed a little each time. I like to use a metronome so I can really be sure I am steadily increasing or staying at a challenging speed. You can buy a small battery operated metronome at your local wal-mart.You can set it to beep every time your right foot touches the ground.Be sure you keep good posture, keepyour back straight, keep your pelvis pulled in like your trying to touch your spine with it and keep your head up.

Plan 3

Do armcircles. Start with your right arm stretched above your head and your left arm down at your side. As you bring your right arm forward and down to your side bring your left arm back and stretch it up above your head and then forward as your bringing you right arm back and then above your head.Do thirty of these clockwise than reverse and do these arm circles counter clockwise. Once you've got this exercise down try it while walking doing thirty clockwise armcircles and then thirty counter clockwise armcircles, stop the armcircles for about two minutes and just walk then add the armcircles again if you can do this while walking for thirty minutes four times a week you will see great improvements. You heart will be stronger and you'll have less angina, you'll lose weight, and your stomach will become toned and eventually flat.

So happy walking!
