Walking Amongst Us: An Encounter with the Spirit World.

I've always been a believer in the idea that there is a world beyond ours that we cross into when we die. The premise that there is a way to project ourselves through energy after we pass doesn't seem that impossible to me. This story is something that happened to me a few years ago and is possibly the weirdest occurrence I've ever experienced.

At the time the second floor of my house was unoccupied and I was using one of the empty rooms for my drum set. I had the drums set up in the living room towards the back of the house against the left wall. To the left of the drums there was a doorway to the kitchen and an archway leading to the next room over. In the next room there was another archway on the other side leading to another room with windows looking out on the street. To my right were two windows overlooking my backyard. At the time it was getting close to sunset but there was still enough sunlight so I didn't need the lights on. So I set up my laptop and was recording myself playing the drums and was only up there for about an hour or so. After a little while I started seeing things out of the corner of my eye and felt like someone was watching me. I continued to play and tried to size it up to my imagination playing tricks on me. Finally I gave in and looked to my left and caught what I thought was two shadowy figures of children run across the wall. I turned back to the drum set and continued playing and concentrating on the song I was listening to. I looked up from the drums and onto the wall just in time to see the same two shadows run across. My first instinct was to look out the window and make sure there was nothing out there casting a shadow. To my surprise there wasn't , but I figured maybe a bird or something flew by. I continued playing but started to feel more and more uncomfortable being there. I suddenly had the urge to look to my left again and when I did I swore that the two shadows ran right towards me. On the recording of me playing you can here the point where this happens because I jump up and drop my drum sticks. At this point I was too freaked out and decided to pack up my stuff and head back downstairs. I told my parents what happened and my dad didn't believe me. He thought it was me or something outside casting shadows and that I was letting my imagination get to me. That was that for a while and I stopped going up there for a little while.

Fast forward a few weeks and the weirdest thing happens. So I wake up in the mid-afternoon because this was during the stay up all night sleep all day phase I was going through. I step out into the kitchen and my mom is there and seems a little excited about something. It turns out that while I was asleep C. Everett Koop, the thirteenth Surgeon General of the United States, paid my parents a visit. It turns out that his grandfather built this house and he lived here during his childhood. He spent a few hours here talking to my parents and giving them some of the history of the house. For instance this was the first house in Brooklyn to have a telephone. Also his grandmother used to use the living room to nurse middle class people back to health. As he continued to talk my mother took note of something that she thought I would need to hear. Turns out that the second floor of this house was where his grandparents lived and with them other relatives lived as well. Among the people who lived there were his aunt and uncle who unfortunately died as children of pneumonia. When she told me this my skin crawled and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I saw two shadows that resembled children on the second floor of my house and now my mothers telling me that without mentioning this to him he explained that his aunt and uncle died up there as kids.

This was the only time in my life that a supernatural experience was met with evidence that literally came out of nowhere. It all sounds like a bit much but honestly I could not fabricate this if I wanted to. Since the time of this story the second floor was renovated and is now housing my older cousin. He's never complained of any weird occurrences or strange happenings so I guess they have moved on.
