Walking the Dog

John Smither
It is very rare

That I get to declare

One of my pastimes

It is a sign of the times

Spare time is a bonus

In these times of slowness

So today I took advantage

I was able to manage

To take a walk

No one to talk

Along the beach

Alone, no one within reach

Except I wasn't alone

I had my dog, I threw him a stone

He went fetch

Came out very wet, poor wretch

He repaid me as I tried

To get him dried

By passing the water he had collected

Onto me it was projected

He is now getting a bath

For me not a time to laugh

As once again the water

Doesn't stay where it oughta

It again ends up on me.

Our dog has yet to go to the beach and he's never been swimming but I know he hates getting a bath. ;-)
