Walking and Talking with Jesus

We Must Do This Everyday

Mathew Paul
How to Walk With Jesus

In our last article, we described how to become a Christian. After we become Christians and dedicate our lives to Jesus Christ, we must learn to live for Jesus. To live for Jesus is to walk with Jesus, to talk with Jesus, and to threat Him like your best friend. We must live by faith and not by sight. We must turn our burdens and problems over to Jesus and have faith that He will get us through these problems. A favorite verse which helps me accomplish this is Psalms 55:22 which tells us to "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee:..." Another inspiring verse is 1 Peter 5:7 which states "Casting all your care upon him for he careth for you." When you walk and talk with Jesus and treat Him like your best friend He carries you through the toughest of times, the worst of your problems.

The Poster

There is a world famous poster which many of you have seen which explains it this way. A man dreamed that he and Jesus went for a walk along the beach. Together they reviewed his life. For most of his life, the man could see two sets of footprints. But, when he came to his toughest problems in life there was only one set of footprints. So he said to Jesus, when things got rough you left me and I had to go through the tough times alone. Then Jesus explained what really happened. Jesus said there is only one set of footsteps during the tough times because Jesus Himself carried the man through it.

A Bit of Inspiration

As a human being, I can identify with the man in the story. Walking with Jesus casting all our burdens on Him does not come natural. We have a tendency to take our problems on without Him, on our own effort, and that is when we get into trouble. So we must remember to walk and talk with Jesus everyday, and we must ask Him to get us through our problems so we can become the person He wants us to be.

Let me share with you what happened when I cast one of my major problems on Him. Back in the day, when I was working for the government, I did not like my job at all. So I tried to find a new job. After working on it for about a year, I did not even get an interview. So I went to Jesus and turned the problem over to HIm. I told Him that I could not possibly find a new job on my own, and that I would take any job if He would just show me the job He wanted me to have. About two weeks later, I got a job in my field, and it was a job I really wanted.
