I was looking around at some of the other stones.
Then I noticed an older tombstone in a corner sitting all alone.
It seemed to be beckoning to me.
It seemed as if it was calling me over as if it had something to say just to me.
I strolled over slowly not sure that I really wanted to go.
Because of that I really was walking slow.
Then I heard a voice.
I looked around to see who may have joined me.
Not one person was around to be seen.
Still that voice was calling me by name.
I wanted to leave but felt as if I had to find out exactly what was about to be.
Suddenly those tombs seemed so lonely.
Oh those lonely tombs were talking to me.
Calling me!
Wretched man come and rest beside me.
The rest here is great.
The Saviour invites you to come and get your reward soon.
I have mine!
Soon it will be your time too!
Come now don't be afraid!
Rest for an eternity will be yours when you join me here.
Just step right this way.
Join us in the heavenly home today.

Post a CommentI've thought these things myself. Certain people that I knew have passed on won't be remembered after my sister and I are gone. They're thought of in Heaven though, and that's what matters. :) Heaven is our real home, and we're only here to learn for a short time. We learn something from every experience, good and bad. Those that have passed are really more alive than we are. :)
I too, understand this poem, excellent discription of feelings.
I totally understand this poem. For those that enjoy graveyards, this is a real experience.
Nice poem.
I loved this poem! I hope you will look at mine on Cross Way Publications. If you put Robert O. Adair on Google it will bring them up.
Great poem! I love the Savior's invitation.
Loved your poem. I walk through cemeteries a lot. Was just in my favorite one today. Found a lot of relatives there too. I am in no hurry to join them just yet though.
I enjoyed reading your poem and look forward to reading more of your work
