Wall Decor for a Boy's Bedroom: Think Sports and Bold Colors

SundiSC
When I think of decorating a boy's bedroom, I think of sports and bold colors. When decorating your son's room, think about his personality, his strengths and so forth. His wall should serve as an expression of who he is, and should be inviting as well, since he will probably be spending a lot of time in there.

Color

Bold colors like red, green, and blue are great colors to paint the walls of a boy's room. Blue would be my favorite. Another interesting idea would be to wallpaper his room. Stripes are bold and interesting. Black and white stripes would give his room a very contemporary and modern look.

Displays

Is your son a sports enthusiast? A participant in sports? Try displaying his sports certificates on his wall or hanging medals that he has won from a wall hanger. Shelves would also work well, and you can store books related to his interests or other masculine books on them. Or, on the top shelf you could place handmade carvings of footballs, baseballs, basketballs, helmets, or whatever sport your child loves. There are even sports themed shelves that you can find online to place his sports gear on.

A display board could be a fantastic wall display. On it, you could hang a wall calendar, post important notes, display scholastic certificates received, art projects, reminders, etc.

School and team pennants are also good additions to a boy's bedroom wall.

Paintings

Art always makes a splash when it comes to wall décor. There are various themes you could go with. Paintings or displays of favorite athletes or a framed jersey from a favorite athlete. Paintings of dogs, outdoor activity, a favorite musical instrument of his, masculine animals like lions, panthers, tigers or bears, or whatever is of strong interest to your son are also great ideas.

Murals are an excellent and creative way to decorate your son's room. It can set the theme for a room. A great website, bellababyart.com, has various murals to choose from for baby boys and kids. They offer designs with sports, fishing, firefighters, airplanes, cars, cowboys, and wagons, and many more. If you know of a local artist that would paint a mural in your son's room, that would be a good idea. I know a young lady who has painted murals for schools and bedrooms since she was in high school. Just ask around.

Overall, when choosing to decorate a boy's bedroom wall, be sure to think about his personality, his likes and dislikes, and go from there. Allow his personality to be your starting point to creating a wall that is a reflection of him. In the end you want a room that will feel welcoming to him, and a place that he loves so much that he rarely wants to leave. I know I used to be like that about my room growing up, because I was surrounded by things that I loved.
