Wall Painting Alternatives for Renters

Ann Siper
Painting your walls is not always an option for renters. Who wants to invest in expensive paints that you have to leave behind when you move. It may also be part of your lease that you can not paint the walls.

So, here are some fun alternatives ot painting your walls if you are a renter. Each of these paint alternatives is the perfect way to add color in your life without painting the walls! Each can be taken with you when you move too!

Large Canvas

Try buying a large canvas at your local craft store. To save money you can shop at a Michael's Arts and Craft and use their 40 percent off coupon. Another option is to simply build your own canvas street an stretch yoru own canvas.

You can also use a series of small canvases all hung together for this DIY project.

Paint your canvas in the color you want your wall to be. Hang it in a focal pint location in your room. Above the bed, behind the couch, on an accent wall, or anywhere you eye rests.

You can take your canvas with you when you move and all you will have left is a small hole in the wall, which is nothing compared to having to pant a wall back to white.

Folding Screen

Folding screens are a fun way to add color in a rental apartment. Traditionally many people have folding screens in wood tones or stains. Instead of using a plain wood folding screen use that wall paint color to paint the folding screen.

This will add the wanted color in the room and has the same effect as a wall!

Fabric Walls

Fabric walls are another fun way to add color to a rental apartment. You can hang your fabric in long strips on the wall. Simple use tacks or push pins to create as small of holes as possible.

Another option to hang a fabric wall is to cut thin strips of picture frame molding. Use a staple gun to attach your fabric to the strip of wood and then all you need to use is two nails to hang the strip of wood.

Sheets of Wood

Sheets of wood or MDF is a great option for adding paint colors to a rental apartment. You can buy a sheet of MDF or plywood and paint it out in the desired paint color. Once it dries simply lean the sheet fo wood or MDF against the wall in your apartment!

Hey Ann, sure looks like you stole one of my articles.

The ideas are different, easy... the problem I'm having with this is the huge number of typographical errors! Un believable. If this were my web site, heads would roll! (Just kidding of course, but check it out! Not the professional sample I'd be showing anyone.)
