Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Were Rabbit: Educational Activities and Games for 2 to 5 Year Olds

Rebecca Hayes
Let's face it, kids love movies, but it's been proven that they should watch no more than 2 hours of TV a day. So why not combine their love of a movie and activities that will help them learn and grow? Following are suggestions for the movie Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Were Rabbit released in 2005. These activities would also work well for preschool classes and party games for this age group.

Watch the movie

Let your kids watch the show while you prepare the activities for the rest of the day or attend to other responsibilities.

Rhyme Activity

Teach your child this rhyme. They will love learning the actions with you.

"The Bunny"

Here is a bunny with ears so funny (hold up two fingers)

And here is a hole in the ground. (make a circle with your other hand)

When a noise he hears, he pricks up his ears, (hold "ear" straight)

And hops into his hole so round. (hop bunny over into his "hole")

Read a Book

There are a lot of incredible books available to go along with the movie The Wild. Pick one you think your child would enjoy and involve them while you are reading. Ask them questions about the pictures and story. Following are a few suggestions of books to read.

  • The Tale of Peter Rabbit (The World of Beatrix Potter) by Beatrix Potter

  • Black and White Rabbit's ABC by Alan Baker

  • The ABCs of and Vegetables and Beyond by Steve Charney, David Goldbeck, and Marie Burgaleta Larson

  • Say Cheese, Please! (Pip the Penguin) by Leslie McGuirk

Pop Up Bunny Craft

You will need a paper cup, a straw or clean popsicle stick, tape, heavy white cardstock and some crayons or markers. Cut a shape out of the cardstock that looks like the head of a bunny. Make sure that it will fit inside the cup. Draw a face on the bunny and let your child color it. Tape the bunny to one end of the straw or popsicle stick. Poke a hole in the bottom of the cup and put the popsicle stick or straw through it so that the bunny goes inside the cup. Show your child how the bunny can pop out of the cup.

Snack Time

Make a simple vegetable dip. Cut up carrots, celery and any other vegetable you have. Encourage your child to pretend to be a rabbit who loves vegetables.
