Walmart Black Friday 2010 Ads Promote Midnight Door Busters
Walmart Black Friday 2010 Flyer Leaks Have Begun
Walmart Opening at Midnight Common
It is not unusual for Walmart to be open at midnight on Black Friday, most of the 24 hour super centers are. My closest stores, in Mattoon and Mt. Zion, IL, have been open at midnight for the past five years. What is new is that the store will be starting Black Friday sale doorbusters at that time.
In past years, holiday shoppers would be able to enter open stores and find the pallet stack-out of the item they are looking for. These pallets would not be cut open until the 5 a.m. announcement, not a minute sooner. For Walmart Black Friday 2010, select items will be available at midnight.
Walmart Black Friday 2010 Easier to Navigate?
The midnight doorbusters should cut down on check-out gridlock. Clothing and cookware Black Friday deals, often towards the front of Walmart stores, can be hard to reach by 5:10 a.m. This is because the cashier lines are backed up half-way through the store and some aisles are cordoned off to control traffic.
By 5:30 a.m. on Black Friday, the entire store is often gridlocked with shopping carts.
Since some of the Walmart Black Friday 2010 early bird sales are children's' clothing and cookware, some of the early morning chaos should be avoided.
Midnight Shopping Decisions
Walmart is following in the footsteps of many outlet malls, such as Tanger Outlet Centers, and some stores by opening at midnight on Black Friday. Toys'R'Us opened at midnight on Black Friday last year. This year the toy store will be opening its doors 10 p.m., Thanksgiving night.
Even with super-early bird store openings, shoppers still have plenty of decisions to make.

Walmart stepped up its game...just not in Massachusetts. This, and the strange tale of Vitaly Borker, at http://admajoremblog.blogspot.com/2010/11/modern-retail-is-full-of-caveats.html
Wal-Mart is going to be a madhouse, for sure :)
