Walmart Electronics Event: Black Friday Starts Now

Richard Banks
On November 6, 2010, Walmart is poised to bring people back into the holiday spirit by launching the Walmart Electronics Event. Starting at 8:00 am Saturday and lasting until November 7, 2010, Walmart is cutting prices on holiday gifts leading up to the ever popular Black Friday sale the day after Thanksgiving.

Over the past five quarters, Walmart has struggled with sales within their United States division. Internal structure changes left investors in confusion as well as customers. Customers began to trade up to other retailers once the recession eased for them. New Walmart US President and CEO Bill Simon saw an opportunity to grow sales, but the plan did not produce the desired results.

Simon has been vocal with the unsuccessful Rollback strategy during the summer months, stating it simply didn't work. He went on to express customer's dissatisfaction with reduced inventory levels through Walmart's remodeling efforts. He charged back by adding promotional items back into all of the stores. At the latest investors meeting, Simon spoke on the challenges on the Christmas season and Americans continued struggles.

Seeking an adjustment in strategy, Walmart has launched The Amazing Walmart Electronics Event. Prices are going to be extremely low for the price conscience shopper. There will a mixture of items from LED televisions to gaming systems, to laptop computers. The Amazing Walmart Electronics Event, will set the tone for the holiday season for Walmart, drive foot traffic, and allow customers to buy the hottest items at amazing prices.
