Walmart Guarantees Lowest Prices Anywhere with a Gift Card for Holiday Shoppers

Walmart Will Match Competitors’ Prices

Attention Holiday Shoppers, "Walmart will not be undersold."

You started your holiday shopping early at Walmart, and bought some popular new video games your kids have been talking about. A month later you see the same games on sale at Best Buy for $10 cheaper.

What to do? Should you return the games to Walmart and go buy them at Best Buy? Not to worry, Walmart has a plan to save you both time and money

Concerned that consumer holiday spending this year will be low due to the economy, Walmart has unveiled another new holiday gimmick to make sure its customers get the best deals and continue to do all their shopping at Walmart.

First Walmart brought back Lay Away for customers purchasing electronics, jewelry and toys for the holidays, and now the country's #1 retailer wants its customers to have price protection and price assurance when they purchase items at Walmart between November 1st and December 25th.

If you purchase merchandise at a Walmart store between November 1st and December 25th and then see the same item for sale at another store, bring your receipt and proof of the lower price (such as an advertisement) to customer service and you will be issued a gift card for the difference in price. The gift card will be for use after December 25th.

There are some conditions in Walmart's holiday price match policy:

--- Grocery items are excluded.

--- Black Friday ads not accepted.

--- The ads must be from stores in the local area, not from the internet.

--- Items already bought on layaway are still eligible for the lower price.

--- Expired ads are not eligible.

If you don't know, here is how the holiday layaway plan at Walmart works. To qualify, customers must spend at least $50 and each item must be worth at least $15. Shoppers pay a $5 fee to open a layaway account. Only toys, electronics and jewelry are eligible for layaway. Customers must pay 10% down and the balance must be paid off by December 16th. Customers who are late or change their mind, must pay a $10 fee.

It seems the new price match policy will be a win-win situation for both customers and Walmart. Customers will get the lower price plus a gift card for the difference.

Gift cards benefit the store as well as the customer. Often a gift card is used as a down payment to buy a more expensive item. Often the customer uses only part of the funds available and forgets to use the amount left on the card. Either way the store makes money.

Walmart also has daily online and Facebook specials with free shipping.

Holiday season spending represents 30 to 40 % of yearly sales for most retailers. Walmart wants to give shoppers with tight budgets and maxed out credit cards the opportunity to purchase holiday gift items easily and still make money. With layaway, specials and price matching policies, holiday business is looking good.

Walmart has positioned itself as a low-cost provider. It is living up to its name and reputation, not to mention being a brilliant business strategy. It takes big sales volumes to pull it off. So, shop till you drop at Walmart. Lower price benefits everyone.
