Wal-Mart Has Undergone Some Changes

Wal Mart once prided itself for having low price items in its store locations. Now that is no longer the case. It has slowly increased the price of some its items right under the noses of consumers. It has changed the way that it does business. Some of the changes that it has made don't seem to go in favor of the consumers. Wal Mart is going to have to make some serious changes to regain some of its loyal shoppers.

I believe that Wal Mart start experience problems several years ago when it decided to do away with its layaway department. It really is not hard to understand why it stopped doing layaways. Layaways can cause a company to lose money because of holding items for an extended period of time, many of which may end up unsold. Many consumers took this personal taking their business to one of Wal Mart's major competitors Kmart. Kmart unlike Wal-Mart still allows customers to do layaways. Another factor that has contributed to a decline in Wal Mart's business is its customer service. I can recall a time when if you had a problem with an item that you purchased from Wal Mart you could take it back with no questions asked. Now if you attempt to take an item back it almost takes an act of congress to get a refund especially if you don't have a receipt.

I still shop at Wal Mart from time to time but not as much as I use to. One good thing that I can say about its stores is that they make shopping a little easier because where else can you go and purchase items ranging from food to home garden supplies? Now it needs to get back to its mission. I like to see more of that big yellow happy face that it use to promote when it marketed itself as being a price slashing department store. Like many other discount stores; just because Wal Mart has been in business for many years does not exempt it from seeing a huge decline in both sales and profits.
