1. Buggies (a.k.a. carts): Walmart doesn't seem to have upgraded their buggies in a long time - maybe even since their grand opening in the 1980s, and they definitely don't get maintenance done on them! After grabbing a bad buggy and then finally returning it for a better one, I realized that it, too, was bad so I just gave up. Tip: If you get a bad buggy and don't feel like getting another, just pretend you prefer them that way.
2. People: Why is it that you rarely run into people you know in Walmart, but see people you know all the time in Target? Or if you do see someone in Walmart that you know, either you (or they) are looking pretty bad so you try to pretend NOT to see them. In Target, people seem to be looking better and smiling at people they know. I wonder if this has to do with the lighting....maybe you can actually SEE the people and the light is flattering (Target-brand light bulbs, I'm sure).
3. Isles: Why are the isles so much bigger in Target? It may be that Walmart is so crowded that the isles just seem smaller. I will give Walmart credit for this one, though, because they have an entire grocery store inside, whereas Target does not.
4. Checkout: Come on Walmart, get with the program! You need to open up some registers and get people through the lines. Target wins this one by a landslide. I do hate it when the cashiers at Target sometimes ask you if you'd like to donate $ - but the last cashier told me up front that they made him say that (oh really?), which I thought was funny.
5. Prices: Ok, now score 1 for Walmart. Everyone knows they have good prices, but Target can throw down sometimes, too, with their sales and specials, but you have to be more savy at Target. The lazy (or super busy) cheap person should shop at Walmart.
Well, drumroll please...Target wins because it's there that you can take a smooth ride down a wide isle, look good seeing people you know, get a great deal, and be out the door before you can say, "Would you like to donate today?"
