Walt Disney World: Tips and Tricks for The Magic Kingdom

Jon Sugi
Now that I have written about each land and the top attractions in the park here are some tips and tricks to help the day go by smoother.

Going to WDW with a small child can be a hassle, even painful. Well not anymore, use the baby swap. Go to any ride you want to ride in the entire park and ask a Cast Member if you can use the baby swap at this attraction. Unless something new has changed the Cast member should give you some type of sticker or pass.

One adult now waits in the normal line while the other adult waits with the child. Once the first adult is finished waiting and riding the attraction the second adult can use the pass. Now the second adult is practically about to ride the attraction. Most rides at Walt Disney World have the baby swap. It never hurts to ask.

Fastpasses. These are the greatest idea Disney has ever had for the guest. This is how the Fsatpass works. You take your ticket to the Fastpass machine in front of the attraction you want to ride. You put your ticket in the machine. The machine reads and gives you back your ticket and a Fastpass.

The Fastpass will have a time window on the front telling you what time to return. The time window is either an hour or hour and a half. However most people don't know that any time past the first printed time is acceptable.

For example if the time window is 10-11:30 AM you can return to this ride at 2:30 PM and still use the Fastpass. Another little tip, you can only have one Fastpass, per ticket during the time window. So regarding the Fastpass situation above, you cannot get another Fastpass until 11:31 AM. But you can carry multiple Fastpasses to different attractions.

You can have Fastpasses for Splash Mountian, Space Mountain and Buzz's Space Ranger Spin at the same time. DO be aware that Fastpasses are limited, there are only so many distributed each hour. Now each attraction has a different number of Fastpasses each hour, but they are not available once they are all gone.

Single rider line. I cannot tell you how underused and underestimated this line is. Even families can use this for shortening wait times. This line will use one or two "single riders" to fill the gaps in the ride vehicle. And the other great thing is that your line is used equally or more than the standby line. So don't be afraid of being split up for a few minutes. It is totally worth the split if you want to ride more attractions in the day.
