Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Railroad, Splash Mountain, Peter Pan's Flight, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and Space Mountain are the most popular attractions. In other words most of these attractions use the Fastpass service and are also very busy all day. These are the attractions you want to hit first during the day.
As you might have noticed each of these rides is in a different land, there are some attractions in the same land, but most of them are scattered around the Magic Kingdom. So what can someone do to ride a majority of these rides in the opening hours. Try this scenario.
There are two people in the group, you and a friend, date, spouse, whatever. The gates open up and you two are first in line. You can't run but you can power walk. Your friend uses your tickets to get Fastpasses to Space Mountain.
You make your way to Splash Mountain. You ride Splash once and when you get off your friend is there to meet you with Space Mountain Fastpasses with an 10-11:30 AM time bracket. It is currently 10:15. Your party rides Splash Mountain again and then Big Thunder Mountain with no wait. It is now between 10:30 and 10:40. You begin to make your way toward Space Mountain. As you walk along your party rides Pirates of the Caribbean with a 15 minute wait time. The time is now 11:10, and you are a few minutes away from Space Mountain.
The park has been open for an hour and the standby wait time is over an hour. Your party uses your Fastpasses to get on the ride in 15-20 minutes. It is now 11:45 and you get Fastpasses for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. Your Fastpass time window is 2-3:30 PM. In the first hour you have ridden four of the most popular and busy attractions in the park and also have Fastpasses for another popular attraction.
There are many scenarios to ride the most attractions in a day. My scenario was pretty accurate in the past. Even if you tack on 30 minutes to the scenario you will still have been able to hit the most popular attractions in the first two hours. The key is getting Fastpasses for an attraction near the entrance, then hightail it to the back of the park.
While the public tries to ride the big rides by the front of the park, you can ride rides near the back of the park with no wait. I did this when I went to the Magic Kingdom. My parents picked up a wheelchair while I ran to the back. I rode Splash Mountain two times with no wait and Big Thunder with two people ahead of me.
My personal top five in this order are: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Railroad and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.
