Spoodles is one of the Boardwalk Inn and Villas attractions facing Crescent Lake. The dining area is vast and decorated like a huge Mediterranean farmhouse kitchen. The kitchen is open for viewing and there is a pizza station located in the front center of the restaurant. While Spoodles serves up breakfast and dinner to their guests inside, on the other side of the pizza station guests meandering up and down the Boardwalk can purchase a slice of pizza or an entire pie to go.
While it is always a good idea to get an advance reservation (ADR) for Disney restaurants, during slower periods Spoodles is often open in the morning either for walk ins or for same day reservations. Simply call 1-407-WDW-DINE to inquire.
Breakfast at Spoodles is a terrific blend of traditional breakfast food and Mediterranean twists. The most popular item on the menu is the Spoodles Breakfast Platter. This is an all you care to eat collection of food that is served in a single portion on a plate, but anything you like can be refilled as often as you request. The food includes breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage patties, French toast, and scrambled eggs. Other common place items include waffles, a huge fruit plate, pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage. Spoodles also offers a typical ham and cheese frittata, but then has a delicious frittata served with sautéed Italian vegetables and tons of feta cheese. Breakfast flatbreads are also available with that Mediterranean twist. Orange juice, milk, soda, smoothies and cocktails are also served alongside the meals' generous portions. Kids have their own menu including the Disney classic Mickey waffles, fruit, classic American breakfast, pancakes or French Toast. Prices range from $8 up to $13 for adult entrees. Kids' meals are $5 and include their choice of drink.
Dinner is a Mediterranean feast at Spoodles. For this meal, ADR's are strongly recommended, but well worth the advance call. The open atmosphere is welcoming and friendly and the bustle of the Boardwalk outside is a few steps away for entertainment post dinner.
Dinner begins with a basket of incredibly soft and fluffy foccacia bread, served with an olive oil tapenade for dipping. The appetizers almost seem unnecessary next to the bread, but are worth a second look. The Mediterranean Dips are an excellent choice for a sampler. Toasted pita bread is served with four different dips and a dish of almonds and olives. The dips are savory and delicious and range from hummus to a cucumber sauce to a feta cheese dip. The quantities are huge and will serve a group. Other standouts include the flatbreads, garlic shrimp and Greek salad. Prices for the generous appetizers range from $6 - $13.
Entrees also come in large sizes and range from a Sausage Rigatoni pasta to Oak Fired Steak Kabobs. Other standouts include a Pressed Cornish Hen and white bean moussaka. The choices are vast and cater to all tastes. For those who love seafood, the Lemon Garlic Shrimp Linguine is a light and tasty choice. Something with a little more substance? The Wood Grilled Pork Chop is a hearty choice. Prices range from $15 - $23 and are not out of line for a Disney restaurant. Desserts are available for those who still have room and are creatively displayed near the check in podium for viewing ahead of your meal. Housemade gelatos and cheesecake are always a good choice and the prices range from $4 - $7.
Spoodles is also a great choice for kids. Unique to Spoodles choices for the under 10 set include Mickeyroni and cheese, flatbread pizzas, and a mini version of the steak kabobs. Kids can select between chicken noodle soup and a salad for their included appetizer and their dessert choices are between chocolate mousse and an ice cream sundae. All kid's meals include the appetizer, entrée, dessert and a drink for $7.50.
Spoodles is a treasure on the Boardwalk where casual table service dining with a Mediterranean spin welcomes guests. Once you finish you dinner, you can meander next door to Seashore sweets for a treat to take back to your room, head out to rent a surrey bike to take around the Boardwalk and Beach Club/Yacht Club properties, or just sit back and enjoy the street entertainment. Breakfast at Spoodles is a perfect start to an Epcot or Disney Hollywood Studios day, and dinner is a perfect Disney Boardwalk evening. Enjoy!
