Tucked behind the resort that is Disney's Yacht and Beach Clubs, the Yachtsman Steakhouse is a cool and quiet haven overlooking the three acre pool complex. Featuring hand cut steaks served in a classic and crisp nautical atmosphere, this upscale restaurant offers theme park goers a chance to bypass the shorts and tank tops to don khakis and sundresses for a grown up evening out.
Begin your evening at the Yachtsman Steakhouse by taking a moment to check out the hand cutting meat station on your way to the table. Bright red and well marbled beef is on display as a butcher masterfully carves out the diner's portions. Across from this window, you can see the dessert options also being served for the evening.
The Yachtsman Steakhouse has access to a full bar, so starting your meal with a classic gin and tonic or a Florida favorite mojito will get you off to a good start. Your server will bring you a basket of onion pull apart rolls and a selection of sour dough rolls, served with sea salt sprinkled butter and a small dish of roasted garlic. While you may not want to fill up on the bread course, bypassing this treat would be a mistake.
Yachtsman has a number of appetizers, ranging from a decadent lobster bisque to the classic Caesar salad. Other offerings may include heirloom tomato salads, seafood salads, and as assortment of artisan cheeses. Prices begin at $9.00 and can range up from there, depending on the current menu offerings.
Once your appetizer has been cleared away, it is time for the headliners. Yachtsman does a fine job with steak and you have the options of choosing your favorite cut. Ribeyes, prime rib, tenderloin and an enormous 24 oz. porterhouse steak will satisfy any red meat lover. Yachtsman also features seafood, chicken, lamb and vegetarian entrees for those who have a different preference, but the focus is definitely on the steaks. Make sure to request your favorite doneness for your steak and prepare to enjoy an excellent meal. Entrée prices begin around $25.00 and range up to $85 for the chateaubriand for two.
When your meal has come to an end, it is time for a leisurely cup of coffee and a chance to peruse those desserts again. Choices here range from a classic crème brulee to housemade gelato and seasonal favorites. Offerings range from the decadent to the light and refreshing and are sure to satisfy anyone.
While Yachtsman is definitely an excellent respite from the Disney parks, as with nearly all Disney restaurants, children are always welcome. Yachtsman Steakhouse offers it young diners a choice of children's favorites like macaroni and cheese or chicken strips, or a more grown up filet. Children may also enjoy soup or a salad with their meal, and there is a chocolate puzzle dessert that will both delight them and hold their attention while the adults linger over dessert and coffee.
Yachtsman Steakhouse is a must do on any Disney World vacation if you are looking for a more upscale experience with some excellent food. Those on the Disney Dining Plan should note that this is a signature restaurant, which will take two of your table service credits. The extra expense is well worth it for the delicious food, solicitous service and elegantly simple atmosphere.
