Intruding innocent with wondrous glee
intent on exploration, words stopped on beat.

her loving mother, arms outstretched,
scoops up the denim knit princess
delighted smile on her face
babbling poetry in time with the grown ups
to be spirited away from the red room and all it's charms
screaming, protesting, terrible twos
crying out verbal nonsense to our adult ears,
only to be distracted with a gold chain,
her curiosity lassoed for a moment
to clap excitedly and exit stage right.
