Want a Drink? Pop a Pill

Remember those high school proms where the really "cool" guys tried to sneak in a hip flask filled with Jack Daniels...and how they usually ended up getting busted? Well, now getting a surreptitious tipple may get easier. No need for hard to conceal hip flasks. Just carry a few pills.

A Russian professor at the Saint Petersburg Technology University has developed a technology that allows turning alcohol into powder and packing it into pills. Almost any kind of alcohol can be solidified; gin, vodka, whisky, wine, beer - you name it. Dry alcohol can be wrapped in paper or carried around in a pocket. The professor claims that you can calculate the correct quantity you consume according to the number of pills you pop.

I'm not sure about this new invention. It sounds pretty clinical to me. Besides, the object of drinking is to have a good time, not to measure out a dosage like taking a medicine. What about the fun sound produced by clinking wine glasses? And how the heck do you offer a toast with a pill? Somehow I don't think it will catch on.

What a bore! Imagine New Year's Eve and no champagne or tailgaiting with no beer. Besides what are you going to wash the pills down with? Could be another abused drug in the wrong hands.

    That is interesting.
