I've heard a lot of rumors regarding World of Warcraft weddings, my favorite being the one about renting the Cathedral of Light. Please people; do not pay any other player "rent" for using the Cathedral of Light as your wedding location. World of Warcraft does not recognize player marriages in any way. However, there are certain aspects of the game that were added in for role-playing fun.
Anyway, here are the facts about virtual weddings in World of Warcraft.
1. Bride and Groom- If two players are to be married, they must each have their own active accounts with World of Warcraft and to be in the same location at the same time, they will have to be members of the same server. If you wish to have an inter-faction wedding (Alliance/Horde), then you will have to go to a neutral location (such as Gadgetzgan) or have the wedding in a zone that is available to both. (Be careful on a PvP server as others may not approve of this union between factions and decide to crash the wedding. Nothing ruins the day more than a corpse run in a wedding dress.)
2. The Ring- Where would any good wedding be without the ring? You can get your special someone a ring of your choice (and budget) in Booty Bay. There is an NPC by the name of Qixdi Goodstitch who sells cloth armor and accessories (see screenshot with article). Good 'ol Qixdi gives you six great choices of rings which range in price from 1g to 100g.
Rings are as follows:
Mood Ring (1g) - "It's blue, wait, it's green!"
Cubic Zirconia Ring (5g) - "Trust me, she'll know."
Silver Piffeny Band (10g) - "Nothing says sorry like Piffeny."
Miniscule Diamond Ring (25g) - "Hey, it's still a diamond."
Flawless Diamond Solitaire (50g) - "Will you marry me?"
The Rock (100g) - "It's Huge!
3. The Location- Different factors will affect where you hold your wedding. For example, do you play on a PvP server? Do you need to be able to have lowbies attending? You need to make sure you choose a location can every invited member can get to and also one that is less likely to be interrupted by random passersby. You most likely will also want to choose a location that you and your soon-to-be-virtual-spouse find beautiful or attractive. Perhaps you will choose location that has sentimental value such as where you first met or some other spot of significance.
4. The Wedding Officiate- You need someone to hold the wedding or to serve as officiate. You don't want to choose just any priest here. If this is a special occasion, you will want someone special to you holding the ceremony. Remember that while you can choose a priest, you don't have to. Your wedding officiate could be a real life friend, a fellow guild mate or even your guild leader.
5. Wedding Party- You may also choose to include others in the ceremony as well such as bridesmaids, a best man and a ring bearer or flower girl. If you really want to go the extra mile, you can get your bride a bouquet and also have flower bouquets for the bridesmaids. You can have tuxedos and dresses made up for the wedding party as well. Ask your local tailor what patterns there are. (Many find the Simple Dress pretty as easy to make).
6. Drinks and Celebration- If you want to kick off your new marriage in style and celebrate with your friends you might also want to get together some party supplies. You can have fireworks, alcohol and much more to throw an entertaining bash after your vows.
In addition to the points above, it's important to remember that this is still a game and unfortunately, you can't control what other people will do. If this wedding is very important to you and you are concerned about other people interfering, I would suggest holding it in a low-key location and telling as few people as possible.
If you are looking to have a lot of fun and create an exciting server-event then by all means tell everyone about your affair. You can send in-game invitations and spread the news word-of-mouth about your upcoming virtual wedding. You may want to post it publicly on your server forums and invite everyone!

I met my now boyfriend back in 2006 on Wow in Darkshore, Auberdine. We became best friends almost instantly for a year, then one day we were on the phone and he confessed his love for me. We lived on opposite sides of the country, so we were on a long distance relationship for 3 years and still playing together. We decided to move in together and we quit WoW together as well. I still think about everthing we've been through on WoW and all the scenery and everything that made our friendship/relationship so special. I couldn't picture myself with anyone else. It was definitely one of the best experiences in my life, I will never forget it.
My husband and I met in a group playing Wow. He said he heard my voice and knew. We lived in opposite sides of country. But we've been married a year and are expecting a baby. It's funny when you think of it but it was totally meant to be. We had a very simple wedding and we are thinking about having a WOW wedding just for fun. =) Sounds kinda silly though. hehe
I know WoW used to have a very... nay-saying attitude when it came to gay stuff, but times are changing, and I'm not sure if they have. Would there be any complications for doing a gay wedding, do you know?
Where does it say about divorce
