Want to Win an Online Contest?

Winning an online contest is very exciting. Trying to win can be frustrating. The internet is full of online contests but it can be hard to keep up with them. There are things you can do to increase your chances of winning.

Organization is necessary. Entering contests through sites that offer an organization feature is the easiest way to keep up with the contests you have entered. The best contest site I have found is Contestgirl. The site is very easy to navigate. The contests are split into categories like single entry, daily entry, weekly, monthly and odd entries. If you do not organize the contests, you could end up at a contest that you have already entered. What a waste of time. There are other ways to keep up with your contests. You could save them into your favorites or write them all down. These methods are very time consuming which means you will have less time to enter the contests. You should also keep track of your wins. Everyone makes mistakes. If you don't receive a prize in a timely manner after winning, you can send the sponsor a reminder.

Contests require a lot of info to win. They will need your e-mail address, name and phone number. Some contests will ask for even more information. A form filler will speed up the process so that you can boost your chances of winning. It saves all your info. Then with the click of a button the form is automatically filled in. I really like the form filler that Google offers. It is free and very easy to use. All you have to do is install the Google toolbar.

Finding and reading the rules will be very beneficial. The rules will be different for every contest. Rules include age requirements, frequency of entries, gender and other restrictions. You will be disappointed if you take the time to fill out a form and it won't let you enter. Don't cheat! Lying to comply with the requirements of a contest will not help you win. They will catch on and disqualify you. Some sponsors will add you to a blacklist, which prevents you from winning any other contests from that sponsor. Entering clean and often is the best way to go.

Always review your entry before submitting. You may have made one simple mistake that will void your entry. Many contest forms include the choice to sign up for newsletters. Theses boxes may already be checked. You could have just signed up for a newsletter that you don't want. Nobody wants an overflowing inbox full of things they are not interested in. It will only take a few seconds to look over the form and save yourself some trouble.

It may take a while before you win your first contest. Be patient and don't give up. It will all be worth it when you win.

Great Article! I'm not much for online contests but sounds like some of it could be fun! (I did win a couple prizes on raffles at a local auction recently, lol) gosh I wish I had more time in the day for some things though!

The best prize I ever won was a $10 I-tunes gift card. That's better than not winning anything though.

I wrote a similar piece "way back when". I enter a lot of contests :)

I only enter contests that I think I might have a decent chance of winning. I have entered some pretty small internet contests done by local bloggers and companies, and I have won a couple of times. Great article!

I didn't have good luck with that. It netted me a bunch of spam and I got my identity stolen. I'm glad that there are others who have had better luck.

I, too, signed up for a contest once and got a barrage of spam. Maybe ContestGirl is different.
