Daniel Baldwin Facing More Legal Troubles

A judge has slammed Daniel Baldwin with an arrest warrant after the troubled actor failed to turn up for a court hearing." He had an arraignment scheduled and he did not appear so a bench warrant has been issued," said Farrah Emami, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office. "I was sitting in court. He most definitely did not show up."

Baldwin has had a long-standing battle with addiction, which in itself sees the actor under circumstance less fortunate on more than one occasion. He avoided jail time in 1998 after spending a cocaine-fueled evening smashing furniture in a New York hotel. Instead Baldwin was ordered to complete three months of rehab and stay out of trouble for a year. He might not be so lucky this time.

Baldwin's repeat run-in with the law are becoming sadly a common occurance. Last April, he was busted for cocaine possession after police, responding to a noise complaint, entered his Santa Monica motel room and allegedly found him holding a drug pipe and a "small amount" of coke. Baldwin spent the night in jail and was released the next day on $10,000 bail.

Following that accident in July 2006, the actor was under investigation for possibly driving under the influence and was detained at UCLA Medical Center after crashing a rented Ford Thunderbird into two parked cars, LAPD spokesman Officer Jason Lee said. He was not arrest over that incident, but Lee said at the time that he could face charges of reckless driving and having a suspended license once the authorities completed their investigation on the DUI aspect before they took further action.

Daniel is the second-oldest Baldwin brother and apparently the most troubled in his personal life. On the evening of that accident his personal spiraled out of control when he was seen weaving through traffic in West L.A.. He then ran a red light and smashed into two cars while going about 80 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone, per police estimates. One of the stationary vehicles, a Hummer, reportedly jumped about 20 feet on impact.

In December, Baldwin was charged with two felony counts of unlawfully taking a car and receiving stolen property. He could face up to three years in prison if convicted, Emami said. Baldwin had been free on bail since he was arrested in Santa Monica in November while driving a white 2003 GMC Yukon that had been reported stolen in Orange County. "The car belongs to an acquaintance of Mr. Baldwin, but he had no permission to take it," sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said at the time.

Baldwin appeared in "Homicide: Life on the Streets" and is currently filming The Devil's Dominoes due out later this year. His less infamously known siblings are actors Alec, William, and Stephen Baldwin.
