Wanted: The Next Viral Video Star!

Modern Chaos
The explosion of user video content on the web is phenomenal! Every video sharing site is looking for it's next viral video star. From goofy homemade antics, personal blog, to semi-professional edited short movies, user created videos are being scouted. Youtube has proven with it's massive traffic that there is a ravenous demand for these short video clips, however there is a lot of junk to wade through to get to the good videos. Many of the more creative videos and short films can sit on Youtube for months with little traffic, while the girl shaking her booty to some Britney Spears song has thousands of page views. This is typically, of course, given the voyeuristic nature on these video sites.

Up until recently, content producers who have scored the most traffic have had no way of cashing in on their tremendous viewer ship. Sites like Revver.com, Metacafe.com, and Break.com, are currently offering good cash programs for people who can produce good original video content. This will definitely change the game of video uploads in the future. Offering cash for content will give the creative, well produced, and unique videos a chance to thrive over and above the rest of the junk.

Short ads placed before or after the video generate the cash for these programs. Major advertisers are realizing the the potential for reaching a very large targeted audience. Verizon is currently offering Revver videos to it's V-cast customers, giving viral video access to an additional 57 million viewers. There are plans in the works to bring viral videos to televison also. More viewers means more money for the content producers.

The cash programs offered has already become very lucrative to several video producers. The now famous "Diet Coke and Mentos Experiment " video, has earned well over $30,000 for it's creators. The top producer for Metacafe is currently at $25,849. These are numbers that will attract video-makers of all persuasions. Top producing videos currently seem to be short how to videos or amazing stunts and gags. Of course, the half naked girl showing us how to fold a shirt is doing quite well too.

The process is simple. Make a good video. Upload. Get the traffic. Reap the benefits of the ad revenue!

So. On your marks! Lights, camera, action!
