War Protest Today Outside of White House: Protestors to Chain Themselves to White House Fence

This protest was organized by Veterans for Peace. Soldiers who have fought in wars know that the end of the Afghanistan war is long overdue. Mike Ferner, head of Veterans for Peace told the Huffington Post "We are dedicated to exposing the true costs of war and militarism... We've killed well over a million people. We've orphaned and displaced that number at least."
Most Americans now disapprove of the Afghanistan war. Too many soldiers have lost their lives in this war. Why risk ever more lives on a war that cannot be won? The Afghanistan war is a futile effort that will not achieve any kind of peace there.
Too Much Money Wasted on a Futile War
Our nation is spending billions of dollars on this war at a time when our own country is in extreme financial peril. Do you feel comfortable with your tax dollars being spent on this war? The Afghanistan war is a bloated, high cost fiscal disaster for the USA. With so many people in our country losing jobs, struggling to hold onto homes and to afford medical insurance it is sad to see our government spending huge amounts of money on a war that the populace does not even approve of.
Only 34 % of USA Support Afghanistan War
An ABC News/ Washington Post Poll reveals that only 34 percent of Americans think the Afghanistan war is worth fighting. Many people want the troops home now, before more lives are lost. This year 488 American soldiers were killed in the Afghanistan war. Another 4,481 soldiers were wounded, notes icasualtiesi.org. Too many lives are being lost in this war. And too many soldiers are not receiving adequate physical and emotional medical care after they return home from the war.
Also, since most terrorism experts now believe that the leadership of Al Qaeda has left Afghanistan and moved to Pakistan, this war cannot be said to be working to catch the terrorists who attacked us on 9/11. The goal of this war is murky and it is well past the time to bring the troops home.
And once Americans are chaining themselves to the White House fence in protest it is a clear sign that the president needs to take swift action to end the war. Bring the troops home President Obama. Our nation wants peace.

I may disagree with where the wars are now, but I support the people who are fighting them.
Great. Hard to see the so called good which has been achieved in Afghanistan. Like the way people are getting out there and doing something. Seems contagious. The Brits are protesting about lots of things right now!
Good reporting - too bad they didn't start these protests with the Bush administration. I was one of the few lonely voices that said from the beginning that both wars were wrong, wrong, wrong. (Even lost "friends" over the topic.) But there is no satisfaction to know that I have been right while so many have been killed and hurt in action.

I can't support either of the wars we are fighting. And I doubt that Afghanistan will ever have a stable government that we will like. In fact, I'm not even sure it should be considered as a unified country; it is an area with a lot of local tribesmen calling the shots.
I wish I could get pics. That would be awesome. I'd post them, too.
And the worst part is the troops have to work over Christmas, even though the guys that sent them overseas are whining about staying in relatively safe D.C. (they do have to watch those slings and barbs!!).
