The whole world is enjoying Thanksgiving Day with their families, sensational and horrific terror strike in India's financial Capital Mumbai on 26/11/2008. This kind of terror strike is never witnessed in India before. Some 30 heavily armed terrorists struck in the heart of Mumbai with sophisticated weapons and grenades blasting their way in to two five star hotels, central railway station, government hospitals, leading restaurants and many land mark locations in Mumbai.

The attack seemed to be a well planned, well organized terror attack with AK-47 rifles and grenades entered Taj Hotel in south Mumbai and Trident-Oberoi . The attacks, which were blamed on Muslim militants, targeted two luxury hotels, a popular restaurant, a crowded train station and a Jewish center. Anees Ahmed, a top state official, had said authorities believed up to 15 foreigners were being held hostage at the Taj Mahal hotel.

Dozens of people were still trapped or held captive on Thursday, among them Americans, Britons, Italians, Swedes, Canadians, Yemenis and New Zealanders. Officials say Australian, Japanese and British nationals are among the dead.

NSG forces are being rushed to Mumbai. Naval forces have been asked to join and help the contain the violence along with state armed forces and police.

Al Jazeera's Matt McClure said: "There was at least five attacks - the largest on a Mumbai rail station and there were three on large, luxury hotels.
"It seems clear what the intent is here - to sow fear and leave people worried and thinking 'nowhere is safe'.
India has witnessed a series of co-ordinated attacks in recent months.

A little-known Islamic group, the Islamic Security Force-Indian Mujahedeen, claimed responsibility.

Blood smeared the floor of the Chhatrapati Shivaji rail station, where attackers sprayed bullets into the crowded terminal. Press Trust of India quoted the chief of the Mumbai railway police, A.K. Sharma, as saying several men armed with rifles and grenades were holed up at the station.

Other gunmen attacked Leopold's restaurant, a landmark popular with foreigners, and the police headquarters in southern Mumbai, the area where most of the attacks took place. The restaurant was riddled with bullet holes and there were blood on the floor and shoes left by fleeing customers.

A British citizen who was dining at the Oberoi hotel told Sky News television that the gunmen who struck there singled out Britons and Americans.
The British Foreign Office said it was advising all British citizens in Mumbai to stay indoors.

Britain's foreign secretary, David Miliband, strongly condemned the attacks. "Today's attacks in Mumbai which have claimed many innocent victims remind us, yet again, of the threat we face from violent extremists," Miliband said in a statement.

The Associated Press, Reuters and Sky News contributed to this report.

It is reported more than 118 people are dead and more than 320 are injured. This kind of organized terror strike has been taken place in Mumbai. This should be a eye opener to Indian Government as well to the whole world. We should all fight against terrorist and terrorism of any form. Indian Prime minister Manmohan Singh says that this could be a external hand in this attack.

On the Thanksgiving day let us all pledge to root out terrorism of any form from the face of Earth.

When I first heard the news I found myself wondering why, how can we celebrate when others are suffering so, all are in my prayers and I pray the suffering doesn't last. I'm worried where the world is headed and if we will ever survive what is to come.
