Wardrobe Resolutions from a Fashion-Conscious Man

Fashion Resolutions Are Ones You Really Have to Keep

Expand and Enhance Shoe Wardrobe

Even the most fashion conscious men tend to lose sight of the importance shoes play in their wardrobe. Merely having several pair of black and brown dress and casual shoes plus a couple of pairs of sneakers is no longer sufficient to help a man put his best foot forward in a variety of business and social situations. Looking through my closet recently made me realize my shoes were the most boring part of my wardrobe and I resolved to remedy that in the very near future.

I took an inventory of my shoe wardrobe and categorized each pair as either formal, dress, casual, sport and slipper/sandal.

One pair of black patten leather dress shoes had always seemed to be enough ... but when you dress formally an average of 6 times a year, it dawned on me that another pair of fashionably less conservative formal shoes was in order.

My dress shoe collection was diverse and stylish and more than sufficient to fit any social or business situation. Casual shoes were a whole other story.

The only way to describe my casual shoe wardrobe was "challenged". With several pairs of black and brown Italian designer loafers, a pair of white moccasins and a pair of top siders, it appeared something was missing. There are two tone casual shoes, casual laced shoes, and shoes in colors other than black and brown that my wardrobe was lacking. New, more exotic and colorful shoes will soon be a part of my wardrobe.

Another thing that was missing from my casual shoe wardrobe was a good pair of walking shoes. My wife and I love to take long weekend vacations where we walk a good deal plus we usually walk every evening too. We decided that for both of us, a stylish pair of walking shoes would be better than the tattered old sneakers we were wearing.

While I had several pairs of good sneakers and workout shoes, my wardrobe proved to be deficient in sandals for going to the beach or just kicking around the house. The several pair of designer dress sandals I had were fine for going out ... but I had no sandals for "everyday" wear. A pair or two of sandals I can wear at the beach or in the rain are definitely on my list.

Accessorize The Casual More Completely

One small area of my accessory wardrobe needed attention too- casual belts. I had plenty of dress belts, ties, cuff links, formal accessories ... but only one casual belt. I was in desperate need of more "casual" belts ... wider belts to go with jeans and "docker-style' slacks. Another thing to change in the months ahead. I might even pick up a casual wallet and weekend briefcase while I'm at it too.

It seems I might have a problem with doing "casual" ... or maybe I'm just "casual-challenged.

I also made a vow to stop making what I consider a major fashion faux-pas -wearing my cell phone on my belt. Cell phones are not fashion accessories and should not be worn as such.

Seasonalize For South Florida

In South Florida, people say we only have t only have two seasons ... hot, humid and wet ... and warm, beautiful and dry. That's why most of us have a "bi-seasonal wardrobe" ... or to more simply put - a winter and summer wardrobe

Actually, we do have four seasons ... but some years it's very hard to tell where on begins and the other ends. I'm guilty of having a bi-seasonal wardrobe and will try to work in spring and fall clothing as well.

Why Keep A Fashion Resolution?

The problem with making resolutions is you never keep them. The good thing about making fashion resolutions is every day you and everyone can see whether you've kept them or not. That's why I'm making resolutions I actually want to keep.
