Flying the namesake warhawks is where this game truly dazzles. While it is approximately a twenty-minute learning curve, once in a warhawk, you will soon be achieving amazing flying moves. One of the best formats for the game is dogfighting, where all players automatically begin in warhawks. In this mode, the game resembles the old game Air Warrior, but on steroids. It is crazy fun avoiding missile locks and twisting and turning in the sky trying to put a lock on your opponents. Other modes of the game include "capture the flag," "team deathmatch," and "zone mode," with the latter requiring more teamwork and strategy. When playing the game in these modes, the interaction and chaos that ensues between players in the air and on the ground is unparalleled. Incredibly, no vehicle or gun truly dominates another as the strategic gameplay is balanced, and the game has virtually no lag.
Players on the same team can communicate with each other through wireless bluetooth headsets that come with the purchase of the game, making the online experience even more enjoyable. While the graphics of the soldiers and vehicles are slightly above average, the graphics and scenery on the maps are truly remarkable. Sometimes the game feels like you are in WWII, and other times it resembles Star Wars. In addition, with an HDTV, you will be able to see players across the map with unbelievable clarity. The bottom line: if you are looking for realistic war game, you should probably look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a great online multiplayer experience that is tons of fun and unmatched, you should absolutely pick up this game, which happens to be the best available game for the PS3 right now.
