I tried to think of somewhere exciting and new to dine for lunch, but I was drawing a blank, so a good friend of mine Susanna suggested that we try one of the vendors inside a local market called "Hong Kong". This was a large mall like structure that housed various vendors and restaurants with multi-cultural cuisine. They served everything from crawfish to Thai. There was so much to choose from, but we decided to try an Indonesian restaurant called Waroeng Corner. The restaurant is a small compact structure inside the Hong Kong market with a few tables and chairs outside.
The owner of the Waroeng Corner Restaurant was a very friendly Indonesian woman who was very accommodating. I took a look at the menu and there was so many great looking dishes that I just didn't know which to choose first. I thought about having the Roti Canai as a starter. Roti Canai is Malaysian flat bread with curry dipping sauce and is a great little appetizer as it's not very heavy at all, but it is very flavorful.
The Waroeng Corner has one of my favorite dishes called Nasi Goreng; it is Indonesian fried rice and comes with a spring roll, chicken, beef or tofu. If you've never tried Indonesian fried rice, you have got to try it. It's not like Chinese fried rice and very different from Thai rice. It's in a class all by itself. Waroeng Corner also offers traditional American eats such as fried chicken (Rumpah Ayam) and hot wings; of course both dishes have the flavor of curry or Indonesian spices that gives it a twist to the original American dishes.
Waroeng Corner is located at 5495 Jimmy Carter Blvd, Norcross, Georgia 30093 inside the "Hong Kong" Market. Waroeng Corner is a great place to have lunch or dinner. However, the dinning space is limited so I wouldn't suggest a large party, but you do have the option of having your event catered by Waroeng Corner. So give them a call today at 770-354-4643 to place an order for pick up or have your next function catered.
Bottom-Line: Lunch and Dinner is priced from $4.00 to $10.00. Food is authentic Indonesian. The location is great as is close to lots of shopping, movies and night spots.
