According to the Daily Mail this daughter has decided to change her name from the pretty Kathlyn Beatty to Stephen Ira and become a son.
Reports in the USA say that Hollywood veteran Warren Beatty is crushed and who can blame him?
I well remember when my own daughters were born how thrilled I was and to be honest have no idea how I would feel if I suddenly lost my girls and found that they were now boys.
Well done to Miss Bening (she starred in American Beauty) who is doing her best to support her daughter/son regardless of her own heartbreak.
It has been reported by the National Enquirer that 18-year-old Kathlyn Beatty is attending her college dressed as a man and is intending to have a sex change operation.
Of course this hasn't happened over night and Beatty and his wife have been dealing with the situation for years and to be fair it is reported that Kathlyn did tell her parents that when she turned 18 she would take matters into her own hands.
Young Kathlyn Beatty is bound and determined to have a transgender operation like Chastity Bono, the daughter of Sonny and Cher.
Chastity Bono underwent her transgender surgeries from 2008 to 2010 and legally changed her sex and her name to Chaz on May 7.
I have no problem with gays and lesbians, in fact I have friends and families who fall into these categories. Yes, I was surprised when some came out and not at all surprised with others. And I certainly didn't feel any different about them just had a bit of thought reorganizing to do.
Would I have felt differently if they had decided that they needed to change their gender to feel fulfilled in life?
Yes, simply because I would have had to mourn the person that I had known them to be.
What would I do if it were one of my own that had to do something so drastic?
I would support them and never turn my back but it would take something very special from me. I may be gaining a son but I would be losing my daughter.
These guys and gals that feel the need to be so drastic have every right but they also need to understand that those that love them have the right to reactions and feelings.

Post a CommentHaha.........the last thing I am is snobby..........you take care am enjoying your articles
Sorry for the negative comment, your ideas and your writing are top notch. I think I remember something from a writer's workshop a long time ago about how to get ideas from tabloids and gossip rags for short stories and novels, etc. I guess I was incensed by the expression "what is it with people" which just sort of rubs me the wrong way as being snobby, the way people (all of us in own special hypocritical human ways) look at and judge others and forget that we’re people too, and that the people we’re saying “what is it with those people†and saying the same thing about us. Anyway, I’m a hypocrite for it and I deserved getting a taste of my own medicine. It’s also proof, perhaps, that you can indeed teach old dogs new tricks!
What is it with people who think they know how others feel by reading reports in gossip magazines? What is it with people who think words and labels define who we are as human beings? Sorry, but your words ring as false as the next National Enquirer headline.
