Warren Zevon is Remembered by David Letterman

Warren Zevon is remembered by David Letterman when Zevon appeared on Letterman's show for the last time before he died in 2003 from cancer. Letterman stated that he and Zevon was making small talk while Warren Zevon only had months to live when Zevon gave him his guitar. Letterman only has a year and a half left on his contract and yet he still took the time to remember those memorable moments on his show as the one seen with Zevon, as reported and seen on Bitten Bound.

Cancer is scary and it is even scarier when a doctor tells you that you only have months to live the way that Warren Zevon did. I have said it many times and I will say it again; cancer is what is known as silent killer.

Diseases or conditions such as cancer that are known as silent killers are due to them not showing up or showing symptoms until it may be too late. There are newer technologies now then what there where ten, twenty, or even five years ago. With the new technology also comes advanced warnings such as those that say you might be at a higher risk and those that will tell you if cancer may form or is starting to form.

It is amazing that with all this new technology that we still are not able to completely get rid of such diseases as AIDS. I do know that the technology for disease can prolong the life of someone who is terminally ill like Zevon.

One unlucky person in my life was my cousin Jimmy who died from bone cancer at the age of twenty-three. Jimmy had just gotten married and died right before his first child was born. Jimmy never got to hold his child or be there when his wife went through the delivery process.

Because of what Jimmy and people like Zevon had to go through I now donate to charities since it can happen to anyone even your loved ones. The charities I most often donate too are those that do research on diseases. The more funded that these charities are the better it will be for us since they will hopefully be able to do away with all diseases someday or at least create a vaccine to help our chances and maybe prolong the life of those who already have it.

Zevon may not be someone that I knew on a personal basis but Jimmy was and I now from experience that these things can happen to anyone and at any point in their life.
