Warriors on the Field

For My Son, Johnny

Janet Hunt
Warriors on the Field

You fought your battles up to now

From the top of the baseball mound

Baseball takes patience and skill

You will now be a warrior from a new field

From the top of the mound

You blew them away

Struck them out

They glanced your way

On the way back to the dugout

For many seasons

We became your fan

Now on your way

Perhaps to some foreign land

We are still your fans

As your life unfolds with a new plan

We hold you in high esteem

As you become one of the few and the proud...

A United Stated Marine!

(Dedicated to my son, Johnny W. Hunt III)

This brought a tear to my eyes. I have two boys who LOVE baseball. I'm sure it doesn't seem that long ago that you were carting your son back and forth to practice and games.

My son played baseball too - he has mild CP. but was a left handed pitcher.
