Washer Reviews: The Bosch WFMC2201UC Front Load Washer

J Hammon
Bosch appliances are named for the German engineer, Robert Bosch. In 1886 he opened his, "Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Engineering." Today Bosch is considered a leader in upscale appliances. The WFMC2201UC Bosch Nexxt 300 series front load washer is an energy efficient machine. It exceeds ENERGY STAR qualifications. It is an extremely quiet machine with a 56dB silence rating. The drum is stainless steel and inclined. It has a 3.81 cubic foot capacity. The 1,000 RPM spin speed removes excess water. This reduces drying time and energy usage. Energy efficient models will save you money over time despite the fact that they cost more initially.

Lowes offers this model for $798.00. It is item #153328. Sears offers this washer for $799.99. It is item #02602082000. Both stores occasionally offer mail-in rebates on appliance purchases. So, check if they have any special offers advertised.

This machine is offered in several colors--Blue/White Duo-Tone , Red/White Duo-Tone and White.

The tumble action washer has 11 cycles--Regular/Cotton, Hand wash, Delicate/Silk and Permanent Press. There is also a KIDS Care cycle that heats the water up to 150 degrees to help remove stubborn stains. One can select the Bleach, Rinse Plus or Heavy Duty options--wash minutes are added accordingly. There are spin (extra), soak and drain cycles, too. You can also choose whether to use hot, warm or cold water to wash/rinse the clothes. The machine automatically determines the amount of water needed for the load being washed.

The detergent, bleach and fabric softener are dispensed from the top of the washer. The Sensotronic Plus senses the size of load, water temperature, balance and amount of detergent (automatically adds minutes to the wash cycle if too much soap has been added to the load). There are four spin speeds to choose from--Max spin, Reduced spin, Gentle spin and No final spin.

The machine can be programmed for a delayed start time of up to 19 hours.

The approximate overall dimensions of this machine are:37" H, 27" W and 32" D. If you purchase the optional pedestal that will add extra height.

The washing machine comes with a one year labor and two year parts warranty. An extended warranty can be purchased for an additional fee.

Also, unless you intend to load/unload and hook up the new washer yourself--there will be delivery and installation fees for your new machine.

Best of luck with purchasing your new washer!

That is a nice review. Though, I'm not sure how important the history of the guy who founded the company is. There are some good reviews of front load washers here: front load washer reviews
