Washington National's Have Plan to Sell Out Every Game

Jacob Horn
This conversation was overheard between two higher ups in the National's organization at the game against the Atlanta Braves on July 27, 2010.

Higher Up (HU) #1- Remind me again why so many people came out to watch our below average club tonight?

Higher Up (HU) #2- It might be our new ballpark.

HU #1- We do have a beautiful ballpark but there are a lot of people here tonight. I just don't think it is the ballpark.

HU #2- Maybe they came to see Adam Dunn hit his 600th homerun?

HU #1- Yeah, that could be it except for the fact that you are talking about Alex Rodriguez, but I think that I am starting to understand why we are below average.

HU #2- Why do you think we have so many people here tonight?

HU #1- We are playing the Braves but it seems like something really special was suppose to happen tonight. I mean almost every seat is filled.

HU #2- Wait, I got it. Who is on the mound for us?

HU #1- Miguel Batista. He was good in 2004 but this is 2010. I remember something now. Stephen Strasburg was suppose to be on the mound but he got scratched. That gives me a great idea.

HU #2- What is your great idea?

HU #1- Let's make Strasburg the expected starter of every single game we play. That way people will be forced to show up and we will pitch him on 4 days rest sometimes and then we will pitch him on 5 and 6 days rest at others times and maybe even let him pitch back to back days just to really throw everybody off. We will sell out every game.

HU #2- I love it.
