Some information about using wasp spray as a self defense weapon has recently been traveling the internet. It seems like an effective non lethal weapon.
We live in violent times. Crime is rampant. Home invasions happen all too often. We must all be on guard to keep our homes and ourselves safe from criminals ready to get us or our possessions.
Keeping safe takes preparation and planning. There are hundreds of home security devices available from alarm systems, motion detectors, to big dogs. Then there is the decision of whether or not to have a gun in the home..
Guns are everywhere in the U.S. where a shooting occurs every 3 minutes. Many do have guns in their homes for protection, but many do not for various reasons.
The most obvious reason is that "More people are killed by gun accidents in the home than by home invasions." A family member prowling around downstairs at night might spook someone to get the gun.
A family quarrel can turn violent especially if alcohol or drugs are involved. Add a gun to the situation and you have a disaster.
Some advice to today's parents: before allowing your child to visit a friend, ask first if there is a gun in the house and if an adult is supervising the kids. Even if you think a gun is well hidden it is still dangerous.
Horror stories abound about kids getting hold of the family gun. Where ever a gun is hidden, gun curious boys will look for it. Tampa has had its share of tragedies
A 13 year old 7th grader, skipping school with his pal is dead today, because the family gun they found discharged. The father of the other boy, thought the gun was well hidden and safely locked up
.A 12 year old shot himself in the head with the family gun after his girlfriend broke up with him. He had been around guns all his life and his parents thought he was responsible. He did not die, but is totally disabled.
America loves its guns. Regulating who can have a gun and who can't, hasn't worked. Anyone wanting a gun can get one. However there are some people who do not want a gun, but still want to defend themselves in life threatening situations.
There are hundreds of non lethal weapons available. Mace, pepper sprays, tasers and stun guns can be easily purchased. Many objects found in the home can be used as weapons in an emergency. Knives, baseball bats, tools, fireplace pokers, boiling water and aerosol sprays and insecticides, are a few.
Recently, information about the effectiveness of wasp spray for self defense suggests that wasp spray is a good, humane way to protect yourself and your home.
By keeping a can of wasp spray by a door or next to your bed, you are ready for trouble. A shot of wasp spray in the eyes will temporarily blind an intruder. He will be most uncomfortable until he gets to the hospital for an antidote.
Best of all wasp spray can shoot up to 20 feet away giving you time to make a hasty exit and call for help.
Val Glinka, a high school self defense teacher considers wasp spray easy to find, inexpensive, and more effective than pepper spray or mace. He suggests putting a can by the bed or door is the best advice he can give.
He says, "If you're looking for protection, look to wasp spray."

Post a CommentMemmay, I stopped back to tell you that I've been telling all my friends about this article. I would have never thought of wasp spray but I think it's such a good idea. My friends like the idea too. Thanks.
Sounds like a good idea. I like the caution for children in the home-or when grandchildren visit.
What a load of Cra*!!! More kids die of accidental POISENING in the home than gun accidents.
As far as Canada being safer. I live on the Manitoba border. Awhile ago a farm couple was beaten to death with a baseball bat. Waiting for the bat control advocates to start.
Hey, why not!? I would rather do that than have a gun in our home....with children and occasional grandchildren. Good idea.
Wasp spray for self defense is a bad idea. It is a myth! Stick with the Pepper Spray. Wasp spray is unproven and has never been tested on humans. Wasp Spray will NOT work on those who cannot feel pain i.e. drugs or alcohol. Pepper Spray is an inflammatory which will cause the eyes to slam shut no matter the situation. That’s why over 40,000 law enforcement agencies carry it nationwide and even the smallest canisters will fire 10 ft while the larger canisters will fire 25 to 30 ft.
Great article! Thanks for the tip! I'm going to buy a few cans and put it around the house! 5*
back to visit :)
Interesting - sounds like an effective weapon.
excellent :) Give ma 3 pencil shaped tubes of OC Pepper spray any day lol
I have to add that I have never felt threatened in my entire life and have never carried a weapon so far. But if I needed to, wasp spray is perfect!
