Wastefulness Within Our Government

Do You Know What Your Tax Dollars Are Being WASTED On?

Carmella Mae Dunkin
What you say? Our Government wasteful? Oh you bet, and I have a photo to prove it! Better yet, I'll share that photo here, for all to see. You see, my husband and I are both disabled, and recently we applied for Social Security. Now we both feel we have the right to voice our opinions on this wastefulness our Government does all the time, because even though we are disabled, and have applied for benefits, we are also self employed, and still pay taxes just like everyone else!

That said, here is my beef with our Government, and how wasteful they are.

Notice if you will, the large envelope pictured here, with a single sheet of paper, (I turned the paper over to protect my info). Now notice the postage paid to send that single sheet of paper? That's right, the Wastefulness within our Government has gotten so severe, that they feel it necessary to pay $0.80 postage to mail ONE sheet of paper! Now if that is not wastefulness within our Government, then I don't know what is! Quite frankly, I am about fed up with all the wastefulness within our Government. I think it has gone way too far, and it is time for us, as American Citizens, to stand up, and let our Government know that we are fed up with all this wastefulness within our Government. Come on people, think about this for a moment. Our Social Security system is so far in debt, that we are using our children's SS tax payments to pay our SS benefits now! The system denies most ALL applicants, because they don't have the money to pay out. Which brings up a whole new article I will work on later, "The cost to deny a Social Security applicant".

So here's what we ALL need to do...

First, write to the President of the USA, (George Bush for now), and tell him how fed up you are that the Government spends more than 2 times what it should cost to mail a single sheet of paper to someone in this Country. Share a link to this article with the President so that he can see for himself that what you say is indeed true, you know, just in case he is unaware, (come on now, it is possible, so let's give ole' George the benefit of doubt here).

Second, write your Congressman, Senator, Governor, Mayor, and anyone else you can think of, and tell them what you told George. In fact, just copy and send them all the same letter, just change the names.

Third, share this article with your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, everyone you know, so they too will see the wastefulness within our Government, and write their own letters speaking out about how this must stop. Before you know it, maybe the wastefulness within our Government will finally stop!

So what are you waiting for? Get off your duff, Google your State reps, and start writing. I've included Ole' George's addy for you here!

FYI... This is one of MANY wasteful examples that I myself can show proof of! Please don't put this off, write the President and your state reps TODAY, you are the one paying for this wastefulness!

I was in the miitary and I can tell you that waste there could feed a small country. Great article!

I agree that it is ridiculous how much the government wastes money. Besides the higher postage, the larger envelope would cost more than a smaller envelope. I know we're talking pennies, but those pennies add up!

You know what I find ironic? When I was an undergrad I opened a checking account with a bank that advertised in my dining hall. I gave them $1 to open the account, and haven't put in anything since. To this day, I get statements, costing them 40 cents each time to the $1 I used to open it 8 years ago!
