I understand that some students are working their hardest and doing their best while they are in college. And some of those students cannot maintain a 3.5 GPA. But there are students that are capable of doing well, or better than what they are doing, but don't because college is just a party to them. These students still get financial aid year to year. Even though there is some aid that requires a minimum GPA, others don't.
I do not think that it is right that students can go to college and use federal aid to party. While other hard working students, who do not qualify for much aid and do not have the money to cover college costs, have to take out loans just to get by.
I do not know what the solution for this problem is, or even if there is one. How can one tell the difference between a partying student who isn't doing well and a hard working student who isn't doing well? This is not possible without violating privacy. So I guess there is no solution at the time and there may not ever be one. I just wish that more students would realize how lucky they are to be at school and not having to go into huge debt while they are there.
