FlashForward stars a great cast of actors, headed by Joseph Fiennes who plays FBI special agent Mark Benford. The show's pilot episode "No More Good Days" opens with what comes to be known as the Global Black Out, which also results in the FlashForwards that people experience.
For 137 seconds all humans experience the Black Out and during that time, they see scenes from their future. It turns out that their visions are from a time 6 months in the future. For some people--especially the main characters in the show--these visions are very confusing and result in many of them looking for clues and answers to what their futures hold.
FlashForward truly opened with a bang. The first episode is exciting, fast-paced, confusing, and has a really good payoff in terms of entertainment. The very first scene features Mark Benford (Fiennes) lying in his wrecked car in downtown Los Angeles, disheveled and disoriented. Seconds later, he sees total chaos and wreckage surrounding him in the large downtown area. There are some really good scenes and sets in this show.
For people who like somewhat intricate and science fiction based shows like Lost and Heroes, FlashForward has a very similar vibe and structure. There is the interplay between strong forces of good and evil, all offset by the mysteries that people find themselves trying to clarify, and of course, there's the unexplained phenomenon that has and affect on society.
One such mystery is that Olivia Benford, Mark's wife, sees herself in a compromising situation with another man in her FlashForward. This confuses her as her relationship with her husband is very strong. As for Mark Benford, he sees himself drinking alcohol in the future, which disturbs him greatly since he's a recovered alcoholic.
The show also features John Cho in the role of Demetri Noh, Benford's partner at the FBI. Dominic Monaghan also shows up as quantum physics genius Simon Campos. His role in the GBO (Global Black Out) is not entirely known at the beginning of the pilot episode. I'll leave it at that to hold back from any plot spoilers that may ruin watching the show.
If you like dramatic action shows with large casts to follow, you might like this show.
