Watch Your IPod Videos in Full Screen---without the Screen

Myvu Corporation, the leader in innovative eyewear displays has launched an addition to its line of personal media viewers. Myvu is best known for its video glasses that are compatible with the iPod. Myvu's first personal media viewer costs $299.95 and comes fully loaded with the viewer, earbuds, pendant control, battery pack and protective case, AC cord and car adapter, and travel case.

This new edition called, myvu Made for iPod solo edition is priced at $199.95 and only includes the viewer, earbuds, pendant control and a microfiber protective sleeve and lens cloth. The Myvu solo edition will be available starting July 10 through ZoomSystem's robotic stores and at Myvu's website.

According to the company's press release, watching videos on the Myvu is like watching movies on a large TV screen, six feet away. A new feature on the Myvu solo is the device's ability to charge itself directly from your iPod.

The Myvu has a sleek and thin design and weighs about 2.5 ounces, but according to CNET reviews, the device's design is not that attractive and you would be reminded of someone from Star Trek. CNET review is also not too happy about the video quality of the Myvu Personal Media Viewer. Jasmine France, CNET Editor said that Myvu's video quality is only passable but not crystal clear. Sometimes you would come across vertical lines on the screen and videos would have a slight grainy quality.

Zoomsystems is Myvu Corporation's choice of distribution system. Zoomsystems makes use of automated retail stores that are placed in high traffic locations and open 24 hours. Zoomsystems' automated stores work by touch screens and customers pay via credit or debit card and receive their products immediately through a robotic arm.

Kip Kokinakis, president and CEO of Myvu said they are excited about reaching their target customer base through the Zoomsystems. "They give us an opportunity to reach large scale deployment in marquee locations that would be hard to achieve in any other way."

Accessories for the Myvu Solo are also available at the company's website, like the Myvu Power Pack, which includes an ultraslim 8 hour ion batter, protective cover for the iPod and USB charger. The Myvu Power Pack will cost an additional $79.95. The Myvu Premium travel case is also available for the solo edition and will cost $19.95. The only difference between Myvu Solo and the original Myvu package is that the Myvu fully loaded edition comes with all the accessories and is available through Apple's online store.

The Myvu Personal Media Viewer is compatible with the 30 GB, 60 GB, 80GB and U2 Special Editions of the Apple iPod video.
