Watch a Movie Before You Decide If it is Good

Lee Andrew Henderson
Movies are a mega popular business these days and like anyone else I love attending the movie theaters. Some movie fans get on my nerves though.

It's not even the movie fans at the theater that bother me. Once I get to the movie theater I'm locked into fun mode. No matter how many cell phones are on or how many babies are crying I can completely tune them out, eat my popcorn and watch the movie.

The movie fans that bug me also aren't the movie fans that come home after the movie and over analyze the movie. Like take 300 for example. Some critics were bashing it for its political stance. What? It's not a movie with some kind of political analogies, it is just a movie based on a graphic novel and nothing else but some people think that everything in every movie has to mean something. My opinion of those people is usually just "whatever".

No, the fans that get on my nerves are the fans that have not even seen the movie yet. A lot of fans out there praise or insult a movie before they've even seen it. How does that make any sense?

At this point last year some fans, comic book fans in particular, were going on and on about how much X-Men: The Last Stand stinks and Superman Returns rocks. The only problem is that neither movie had even been released at the movie theater yet. They were just assuming Superman Returns was good because the director who did the first two X-Men movies left to do Superman and the new guy directing the new X-Men movie was supposedly a hack. If the Superman Returns supporters would've actually waited to see the movie before praising it then they wouldn't have looked as dumb when Superman Returns turned out to be the most disappointing movie of the year.

The latest complaint that is getting on my nerves is all the Transformers fanboys. It especially annoys me because I am a Transformers fanboy myself and I'm embarrassed to be in the same group as them. Get this, Transformers fans have deemed that Transformers will not be a good movie. Why? Because Optimus Prime has lips. That's it! Because Optimus Prime has lips Transformers is going to be an awful movie? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Others think Transformers is going to suck because it's being made by Michael Bay. Michael Bay seems to be hated because all of his movies are ridiculous nonsensical action movies with not much of a plot. Umm...did I miss something? Since when did the Transformers cartoon become a serious drama? A ridiculous nonsensical action movie is exactly what Transformers is. If the Transformers movie is just giant robots with lots of explosions then it is an accurate depiction of the Transformers cartoon. I don't get why Transformers fans as bashing Michael Bay when he's actually the perfect guy to make a Transformers movie. I don't want to see a drama Transformers. I don't want to see a Transformers movie with a deep plot and symbolism and big twist ending. I want robots, I want explosions. That is what Transformers is.

Saying a movie is going to suck or saying it rules before you have even seen it is just dumb. But if that's the way it's going to be then I can play that game too.

Harry Potter is going to suck. Why? Because Ron's ears are too big. Pirates of the Caribbean is going to suck. Why? Because Jack Sparrow is left handed. Shrek is going to suck. Why? Because Shrek has an ingrown toenail on his left foot. Spiderman 3 is going to suck. Why? Because Tobey Maguire's belly button is an outie.

Yup, there you have it. Every movie this summer is going to suck. You might as well just stay home.

You can't be mad at me, I am a good girl and reserve my opinions on movies until after I have seen them. Friends?

Oh no you DI-in't say that about Pirates! It's gonna rock! Of course, I'm just in LOVE with Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, so they could stand there staring at a pile of poo for three hours and I'd think it was fabulous. :-P

I have to admit I am guilty of this. I am absolutely certain that Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is gonna rock even though I havn't seen it. Great article!
