The World of Naruto
The Japanese anime series Naruto is set in a fictional world wherein ninjas of the Five Great Nations vie with powerful jutsu against one another and to defeat powerful rogue ninjas. Naruto is a 12-year-old boy who is enrolled in the Academy to become a powerful ninja. He struggles to control his own passions and the powerful Nine-tailed Fox whose spirit remains trapped within him. The world is a mix of seemingly supernatural jutsu powers and modern technology. While the ninja use modern radio links for communication, modern weapons of war such as guns, airplanes and missiles seem to have never been invented. Instead, the ninja of the Five Great Nations fight with sword and shuriken, augmented by their powerful jutsu abilities and the occasional use of explosives.
Free Streaming Video of All Naruto Episodes
The story follows Naruto and his classmates as they grow in wisdom and progress in their ninja training, gaining mastery of powerful jutsu techniques which they employ in missions on behalf of the Hidden Leaf Village. The original Naruto series ran for four complete seasons, totaling 220 episodes, which are all available online at hulu.com's Naruto page. The shows are serial in nature, so it is important to watch them in order beginning with season 1, episode 1.
Naruto Offers Rich Character Development
The character development of Naruto and his colleagues is surprisingly complex. Each has a rich personality so that those who choose to watch Naruto get to know them all over time. We understand the motivations of both the heroes of the Hidden Leaf Village and those of their antagonists. The bad guys of the Naruto series are not cardboard cut-outs, but are well-developed as full characters. This is a refreshing twist compared to most stories in which we are never allowed a glimpse inside the heads of those who oppose the hero.
Watching Naruto as a Family Activity
Naruto will appeal to children of all ages, but would most likely receive a PG rating in the United States, so parents might want to preview a few episodes before allowing younger children to watch on their own. Because the entire Naruto series is available as streaming video online at hulu.com, it can be watched at any time. It has both the action and excitement to appeal to younger viewers and the depth of emotion to make it interesting to adults as well. Watching Naruto online is a great excuse for families to gather together on a regular basis.
