About 3 billion people will be watching the Olympics live around the world. The Olympics ceremony will allow viewers to watch the Olympics live from their television. Some people may not get to watch the Olympics live on the internet since the television network doesn't want to compete with the internet. With this being said Americans will still get to view a part of the Olympics but it won't be live, they will end up missing the best parts of the Beijing Olympics through streaming video on the internet. NBC has exclusive rights to the Olympics opening ceremonies and they make much more money using the TV instead of the internet, as reported by Alley Insider.

One of the best ways to watch the Olympics online is to go to nbcolympics.com and click on NBC broadcast schedule. Microsoft Silverlight is needed in order to watch the Beijing Olympics live. Some of the Beijing Olympics online will be featuring events like archery, badminton, fencing, field hockey, judo, shooting, soccer, weightlifting, sailing, equestrian, rowing, handball, tennis, cycling, basketball, water polo, softball, wrestling, table tennis, canoeing, triathlon, baseball, hockey, and taekwondo.
