Fortunately for Serene Branson, it appears that she is going to be okay. According to KCBS-TV, after Branson's slurred speech that is heart wrenching to watch, she was checked by paramedics at the site and was not hospitalized.
On Monday Branson was reported to be at home resting and conveyed to her bosses that she did not have any underlying medical issue which caused her to garble her speech.
Watch the frightening 10-second clip here as Serene Branson reports outside the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night during the 53rd Annual Grammys.
As you can see it really appears that there's more than just nervous jitters for this reporter and hopefully she truly did get checked out and is indeed okay.
And then sadly today (February 15), it was reported that the nephew of the Dalai Lama died late yesterday as a result of being struck by a car on a Florida highway.
Jigme Norbu, 45, was participating in a pro-Tibet march ("Walk for Tibet") which is a 300-mile march that starts in St. Augustine and ends in West Palm Beach.
Norbu was hit by an SUV driven by a 31-year old driver with two small children in the vehicle. A resident of Bloomington, Indiana, Norbu was apparently walking closely to the white line on the roadway which separates traffic from the shoulder for emergencies.
According to a spokesman for the Dalai Lama, the religious leader "was saddened" to hear of his nephew's death and will pray for him. The Dalai Lama had also asked for details on how the accident had happened.

Post a CommentJournalistic coverage of the incident leans toward the stroke related momentary lapse of reason type explanation. Comments may also reflect an acceptance, though somewhat skeptic, of this belief bearing in mind ages common to the incidence of stroke. The few of us who do understand what Branson was saying won't equate her announcement with what in religous experiances is referred to as speaking in tounges. Receptiveness among a public interested in matters such as the Grammys renders them unready to accept a message of the sort being delivered by Branson.
The family of the Dalai Lama's nephew have my condolances.
Thom, you moron. she was not "nervous". She was clearly having a medical situation, mini stroke, or an epileptic episode. Nervous? geez.

where can you watch?
She did not have a stroke she was just nervous and stumbled her words big deal. But common TV viewers expect these anchors to be perfect robots, it's just not going to happen.
These news anchors would stumble less on their words if they would quit with the fake Brokaw/Walters garbled accents and just talk normally.
Priscilla,
You are, unfortunately, never too young to have a stroke. While the recent uptick in strokes amongst younger adults has been attributed at least in part to obesity and diabetes, the truth is that seemingly healthy people of all ages can experience a stroke.
